Counsel completed a two-year project for the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) in relation to the Minister’s direction to the OEB to engage with Ontario’s First Nations and Métis communities on the proposed Energy East Pipeline. This project required a two-part process involving facilitations in eight locations across northern and eastern Ontario near First Nations communities that were directly impacted or in close proximity to the proposed pipeline route.

In each instance, Counsel was responsible for identifying the First Nations communities across Ontario and along the route, developing the information necessary to ensure a successful facilitation and leading the facilitations. Following the facilitations, Counsel provided two summary reports which were released publicly on the OEB website and helped inform subsequent discussion on the Energy East project.
