Alissa thrives on connecting the dots between policy and the public. She has more than a dozen years of experience as a journalist, policy professional and communicator for the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Prior to joining Counsel, Alissa served as Director of Communications for the Honourable Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development and Growth, and as a senior communications advisor to the Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services.

As a senior consultant at a national agency, Alissa helped a wide variety of clients achieve their public affairs and communications goals. Her clients included pharmaceutical companies, non-profit patient groups, hospitals, large retailers, and technology and transportation firms.

Alissa also managed Canadian Doctors for Medicare, a non-profit dedicated to strengthening and improving our public health care system, overseeing growth of the organization’s media coverage and membership while effecting real change in the policy process both provincially and nationally. Prior to that role, she worked in the Ontario Public Service in both the Northern Growth Secretariat and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Alissa began her career as a reporter in southwestern Ontario and northern British Columbia, and continues to bring a journalist’s lens to her communications work today.

Alissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Carleton University, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Toronto.
