Patrick Osland has nearly a decade of political and public affairs experience across Canada and abroad. He brings his conservative roots, diplomatic demeanour, keen ability to build relationships, and adeptness at navigating challenging political environments to Counsel’s government relations practice.
Patrick’s experience provides him with substantial understanding in government decision-making processes and issues management of complex files. In his roles as Caucus Liaison and Policy Advisor at Queen’s Park, Patrick was the lead on Caucus Relations, while also working on changes to the Ontario Nominee program and the cross-government red-tape reduction efforts.
In addition to his work at Queen’s Park, Patrick served the Hon. John Baird at Foreign Affairs and the Hon. Jason Kenney at Citizenship and Immigration. Patrick also worked for the City of Ottawa in the office of a deputy city manager. He has been active in campaigns for conservative candidates in national, Ontario and Alberta elections, including the successful federal election campaign in 2011, and the recent Progressive Conservative victory in Ontario in 2018.
Patrick has been a regular participant at international events such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), G20, and G7 summits. Most recently, he led an International delegation to Geneva to participate in a cybersecurity simulation.
Patrick holds a Masters of International Studies from the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna and the University of Vienna, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Carleton University.
