Bruce Ralston, KC is a Senior Advisor based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
A long-serving elected official and former British Columbia cabinet minister, Bruce brings deep public-sector experience, strong relationships across government and industry, and a practical understanding of how major policy, economic development, energy, forestry, trade, and reconciliation files move from ideas to implementation.
Over nearly two decades in public life, Bruce represented Surrey-Whalley in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, winning five consecutive elections. From 2017 to 2024, he served in senior cabinet roles including Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology; Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources; Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation; Minister of Forests; and Minister Responsible for the Consular Corps.
Bruce’s cabinet work placed him at the centre of some of British Columbia’s most significant economic and resource decisions. He helped advance innovation policy, trade relationships, clean energy investment, major project approvals, mining reclamation policy, wildfire readiness, forest-sector transition, and Indigenous reconciliation initiatives. His approach as a senior minister was rooted in dialogue, consultation, collaboration, and a commitment to durable public-policy outcomes.
Known for his steady leadership and ability to work across complex stakeholder environments, Bruce has advised and engaged with Indigenous governments, industry leaders, diplomats, community organizations, public agencies, and elected officials. As Minister Responsible for the Consular Corps, he supported constructive international relationships and represented British Columbia in diplomatic and trade settings.
Before entering provincial politics, Bruce practiced law, served two terms on Surrey City Council, and held leadership roles on community and public-sector boards. He also served as Chair of the Board of Vancity Credit Union and as President of the BC NDP. His board experience includes Powertech Labs Inc., Surrey Memorial Hospital, and Surrey Public Library.
Bruce holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Master of Arts in History from the University of Cambridge. He was appointed King’s Counsel and received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2025.
