As a Research Associate at Counsel, Shawn supports clients and staff in achieving their government relations objectives.

Before joining Counsel, Shawn led the government relations efforts at his undergraduate student association. He developed public policy recommendations and lobbied elected officials on issues such as financial aid and supports for students with disabilities.

After leaving his role at the student association, Shawn was an intern in a Member of Parliament’s Constituency Office. Here he managed residents’ concerns and supported staff in correspondence and outreach activities.

Shawn then joined the Ontario Ministry of Energy in a communications role, assisting with media relations tactics, identifying contentious issues, and facilitating the development of key messages.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University and a post-graduate certificate in Government Relations from Seneca College.
