Amanda van Baarsen Promoted to Senior Vice President & Western Practice Lead.
Counsel Public Affairs is pleased to announce the promotion of Amanda van Baarsen to Senior Vice President and Practice Lead for Western Canada. In her new role, Amanda is responsible for the growth and health of the practice, from client outcomes to the development of the team.
“In her four years at Counsel, Amanda has become an integral part of the team and a strong leader in our Western Canada practice,” shared President & Partner Brad Lavigne, “She truly embodies Counsel’s relentless commitment to client success, developing new business in key industries and growing the talent and skills of our Western consultants.”
Over the past year, Amanda has led a portfolio spanning energy and natural resources, Indigenous and treaty advancement, health and the public sector, and municipal and land-use development.
“I’m proud of what Counsel has built, and I’m focused on where we take it next,” said van Baarsen. “We have an exceptional team across the west, and my job is to help them do the best work of their careers for our clients, in every market we serve.”
Amanda has also been a driving force behind Counsel’s annual Rooftop Reception at the Calgary Stampede, which this year welcomed hundreds of guests and dignitaries from across Canada.
Prior to joining Counsel, Amanda worked for the B.C. NDP in opposition and in government. She served in senior roles in key ministries, such as Health, Advanced Education, and Citizen Services.
