TORONTO, November 30, 2021 – Counsel Public Affairs is pleased to announce that Michael Ras will be joining its public affairs and communications practice as Senior Vice President. Based in our Toronto office, Michael will be available to service clients across Canada.
“Michael is a veteran government relations practitioner. He knows how to impact public policy and get results for his clients,” said Counsel Partner and Co-Founder Caroline Pinto. “Over his 20 plus years as a government relations professional, he has worked across a variety of industries, ranging from legal and financial services to technology, with a track record of delivering results.”
Most recently, Michael was Director of Government & Stakeholder Relations with Meridian Credit Union where he led efforts to modernize credit union governing legislation and regulation and position Meridian well in the hyper-competitive financial services sector.
Michael was also a Conservative Party of Canada candidate in the Fall 2021 federal election in the Mississauga Lakeshore riding, where he finished a close second in a competitive race.
Michael will work closely with all of Counsel’s partners, consultants and associates across Canada. He will especially focus on bringing his leadership skills to Counsel’s well-established and growing government relations practice in Ontario.
Established in 2004, Counsel has grown to become a national firm, with a team of 27 consultants in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto and Ottawa.
