CALGARY, September 3, 2020 – Counsel Public Affairs is pleased to welcome Andrew Sennyah to its growing Western Canada team, as a Calgary-based government relations Consultant.

“As Counsel continues to grow in Alberta and across Western Canada, we are excited to have Andrew join our team.  Andrew’s experience working in the Alberta government and his comprehensive public policy knowledge will help advise our clients as they navigate the complexities and uncertainties of the COVID-19 era,” said Brad Lavigne, Counsel’s Vice President, Western Canada.

Prior to joining Counsel, Andrew served in Alberta’s United Conservative Party government as Ministerial Assistant for the Minister of Environment and Parks, and the Government House Leader. In this role, he provided advice to the Minister and Chief of Staff in dealing with current and emerging policy issues including the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reductions (TIER) program.

Prior to the 2019 Alberta General Election, Andrew worked as Outreach Coordinator to the Honourable Jason Kenney.  He also worked for Premier Kenney in Ottawa when the now Alberta Premier was serving as the federal Minister of National Defence and Minister of Multiculturalism in 2015.

Andrew brings strong research abilities and applied public policy experience to Counsel’s Western Canada clients.

“Counsel’s team is well positioned in Western Canada to advance client files in key industries including oil and gas and energy. With Andrew’s added expertise, the Counsel team is enhancing our capacity to add value to companies, associations, and not-for-profits delivering timely and insightful government relations advice,” said Amber Ruddy, Director in Western Canada.

Andrew’s announcement comes just one month following the addition to Counsel’s government relations and public relations team in Ontario of Rob Gilmour and Jessica Georgakopoulos, both former senior staff members with the Ford Government and PC Caucus Office in Ontario.
