Counsel Public Affairs is – once again – growing stronger in Western Canada.

Counsel is excited to announce the addition of former Alberta Economic Development & Trade Minister, Deron Bilous as Senior Vice President, Western Canada.

Based in Edmonton, Deron joins Counsel following three terms of service in the Alberta Legislature, both in opposition and government. Deron has extensive experience in leading Western Canada’s largest economic development ministry, where he landed major domestic and international investments in the energy, petrochemicals, life sciences, agriculture, forestry, technology, and artificial intelligence sectors.

Deron’s deep insights of, and relationships with, government and industry leaders make him the “go-to” person to secure the outcomes that clients need.

Counsel is also excited to announce the promotion of Calgary-based Amber Ruddy to the firm’s newly-created position of Vice President, Alberta.

Since joining Counsel four years ago, Amber has helped countless clients succeed with her extensive knowledge of government processes and successful leveraging of stakeholder engagement. She is a leader at Counsel and in the public affairs industry.

“Deron joining our team and Amber’s taking on a new leadership role in the firm will give Counsel’s clients an unparalleled range of insight into decision-making in Alberta” said Brad Lavigne, Partner and Western Practice Lead. “Together, they will continue to ensure outstanding client service and growth of our western practice.”
