Counsel Public Affairs is pleased to announce that Amber Ruddy, Vice President, will be joining the federal practice. With over five years of experience at the firm in our Alberta practice, Amber will add a federal focus to her duties and lead our roster of federal Conservative consultants.

Amber previously worked in the Harper government and led the Alberta chapter for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. She is an elected member of the Conservative Party’s National Council.

We are also thrilled to announce two promotions on the federal team. Alex MacDonald has been promoted to Associate Vice President, where he will now play an important role leading several client files. Alex has helped to develop Counsel’s industry leading monitoring function and has provided stellar policy advice to our clients.

Alex has prior experience as a Policy Advisor in the Conservative Opposition Leader’s Office on Parliament Hill, specializing in health, housing, and social policy. He also worked in the office of Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and advised on election platform development for Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

In addition, Elizabeth Campbell has been promoted to Senior Consultant in recognition of her excellent work organizing lobby days and her dedicated expertise on important client files.

Elizabeth previously worked in the office of the former Conservative Shadow Minister for Environment and Climate Change on Parliament Hill and for the Conservative Party of Canada during the 2019 election.

“We are thrilled to welcome Amber onto the federal team and congratulate Alex and Elizabeth on their growth within the firm,” said John Delacourt, Senior Vice President. “Our firm wide multi-partisan team means that we can deploy resources where they are most needed – and with a likely change in government on the horizon, we will continue to bolster our federal ‘blue team’ to position our clients for success.”
