Counsel Public Affairs is pleased to announce the addition of former Alberta Energy Minister, Marg McCuaig-Boyd to its rapidly-growing Western Canada practice.

Based in Edmonton, Marg will support Counsel’s clients across the country, with a focus on Western Canada’s energy and agriculture sectors.

“Marg is well known and well respected throughout Canada’s diverse energy sector and will offer clients a unique perspective and expertise developed by her years in cabinet,” said Brad Lavigne, Partner & Western Canada Practice Lead.

Marg served as the Member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly and Minister of Energy representing the northern, rural constituency of Dunvegan-Central Peace-Notley from 2015-2019.

Prior to her time in government, Marg spent more than 25 years in public and post-secondary education as a teacher and administrator. She served for four years as an executive member with Grande Prairie Regional College, administering the campus in Fairview. Marg and her husband ran a cow calf operation for more than 25 years.

“With all the challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector in Western Canada, Marg’s expertise as a former cabinet minister will serve our clients extremely well”, said Counsel’s Calgary-based Associate Vice-President, Amber Ruddy. “I look forward to working with Marg and drawing on her knowledge and experience to help our clients throughout Western Canada succeed.”
