Counsel is proud to announce the promotion of Jodee Mason to Associate Vice President, Manitoba.
With over two decades of experience in media, strategic communications, and issues management, Jodee has a strong network and an unmatched line-of-sight into the dynamics of the NDP government in Manitoba.
“Since joining us in 2024, Jodee has continuously demonstrated her commitment to client success, utilizing her deep understanding of the Manitoba government to help clients navigate complex issues,” says Deron Bilous, Senior Vice President, Western Practice Lead.
Prior to Counsel, Jodee worked in Media Relations as Press Secretary to Cabinet and Issues Manager in the Doer and Selinger NDP governments for eight years, honing her skills as an effective communications advisor and issues manager, with stints in multiple government departments.
Jodee was the News Director at a radio station in Dauphin and later moved on to anchor the 6 pm news cast for a TV station in Brandon.
“Jodee’s strong work ethic, deep understanding of the provincial government and local stakeholders enable us to provide our clients with unparalleled engagement with Manitoba decision-makers,” said Brad Lavigne, President and Partner.
Jodee also managed communications for the East Side Road Authority in Manitoba, where she established relationships and gained experience negotiating with First Nations leaders. She joined Counsel after working for one of Manitoba’s largest unions, the Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union, where Jodee played a key role in leading media relations and was part of a team that lobbied and succeeded in establishing secure entrances in Manitoba liquor stores.
Above her professional contributions to communities in Manitoba, Jodee will tell you her biggest accomplishment is being a mom to two boys.
